Scottsdale, AZ

Superstition Mountain

Mom and I headed to Scottsdale Arizona for our Spring 2008 Mother-Daughter bonding trip. We stayed at the Camelback Inn, JW Marriott Resort and Spa. When we arrived in Phoenix, we headed straight for the resort. Checked in and went straight to bed...Oh, did I tell you we arrived at 12 midnight! Got up early the next day and went shopping for the day! The next day, decided to head to Apache Trail to an old Ghost Town. This Ghost Town was pack and fun to be in. Contiuned driving on Hightway 88 and saw some of the most beautiful mountains!

Goldfield Ghost Town

The cactus was cool to look at. Learned that if these BIG cactus take at least 75 years to grow their arms, therefore, if you see one with a lot of arms...it is really old.

Apatch Trail

Apatch Trail

Apatch Trail...hmmm...Yes, I hiked with my Coach Bag this day!

Mom had never hiked a mountain before, so we hiked Mummy Mountain on our last day there! She was funny, but made it all the way around the hiking trail. I was really impressed with her!

Mom's idea of hiking...Talking on cell phone!

Finally dressed for hiking...kinda of!
Mom after she finished Mummy Mountain

We also enjoyed a relaxing day at the Spa their...Oh, the spa was amazing. Has to be one of the best spa's I have ever been to. If you are ever in the area or wanting a much needed get away, I suggest this resort and spa!

20 Best Burgers Before You Die

GQ came out with a list of 20 Best Burgers to try before you die.  Since I LOVE burgers and I am always looking for adventures to try, I started on this one.  My first stop #15 Build Your Own Burger at The Counter in Santa Monica.  This place was GREAT!  I got the 1/3lb beef burger (which is the smallest they have) and still had to use a fork to eat it!   When I cut into that burger, the juice just ran down the side of my toasted bun....Yummy!  The fries are enough to order one and share with a friend and they offer a Milkshake of the Month!  I would so recommend this place to anyone!!

Cost:  Meal for 1 $16.00
Parking:  Hard to come by - But FREE
Wait:  40 minutes
Service:  Great!  People are very friendly.

Home for the Holidays

This was the first year since 1999 Ron and I went to my home for Christmas.  We spent a week in Ft. Worth and it was so cold, windy, etc...it really felt like Christmas.  We went to the Gaylord Ice and it was so neat and COLD!  It was 9 degrees in there!  Everything in here is made of pure Ice!  They shape them, color them and cut them to make different things.

Laguna Peak 5K

I thought it would be a great idea to run the Laguna Peak 5K.  This 5K is one of the hardest in the state because it is up a mountain....1400 Ft Up at around 20 incline!  After a few weeks of training, we decided it was best to walk up!  It was a great challenge and can honestly say I would do it again!  The top had to be taken with two separate pictures...It was VERY high up!

Santa Monica Mountains

Ventured out couple a weeks ago to drive Mullholland Hwy....So, my goal was to start the drive at Pacific Coast Highway and work my way around Mullholland Hwy to West Hollywood. I jumped in the SUV and off I went...I started my adventura on PCH and went down Mullholland Hwy....30 miles later and 2 hours into my adventure...I decided to head to PCH (via a different rode) and drive home...*smiling*. I have decided this is a two day adventure.

California Fires

A few weeks ago, the fires where only 20 miles from our house. Early in the morning, there was not any smoke near the house. By 3PM it was so dark and smoky...It was really scary. We took photos of day one of the Southern California smoke that filled the air in Ventura County.

This is around 3PM.

This is around 4PM.

Halloween Time at Disneyland

Once again we went to Disneyland's Halloween Time. I'esha and her mom went also and we had a great time.

My First Earthquake - 4.5 Magnitude Tremor

Last night at 12:58AM I was sleeping peacefully...then all of a sudden, I woke to the house shaking. I thought I was having a dream and went back to sleep. Once I was up and watching the news...I realized I didn't have a dream...I really was in an earthquake!!

Anyway, the one thing that happened was the floor was rolling a lot and it make Kehau and Victoria sick. Other than that, everything is fine here and I made it through my first earthquake okay!!

This is a picture of the actually "shock wave" that went around after the quake. I live right in between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles!!
