Small Danish Town called Solvang

Today we had a blast!!! We headed for a small Danish town just North of Santa Barbara called Solvang. This town was in the comedy Sideways. The drive up the coast and through the mountains was so beautiful. Clear blue skies, snow on the tops of the mountains and amazing views of the ocean and lakes.

Once we got into Solvang, the fun began. We went to Solvang Photograph and had our picture take in the old western outfits. The photographer is the only person in the US currently using this particular camera that took our picture. It was not a digital camera; it is a 100 year old camera that actually takes the old looking pictures.

Then we headed down the street and ate lunch at a place called Bit o’ Denmark. It was okay, not the best food in the world, but we wanted to eat Danish food since we went to Solvang. After we ate lunch we walked the street of Solvang taking pictures and shopping. Once we had finished our day trip we stopped at none other than Olsten’s Danish Bakery. They hold claim to the best Danish bakery in Solvang. We grabbed some pastry’s to bring home with us. From what we have tried, I think the claim is true.

Santa Barbara

Since Ron still has not left for the middle east, we have been trying to take advantage of the borrowed time we have together. Last weekend, Feb 18 to be exact, we headed North to Santa Barbara. State St. is under construction, so it was not as nice as it normally is...but everything was still open for business so we spent the day roaming around the street. After a few hours of on State St. we headed to check out the Santa Barbara Mission.

So...Ron and I started talking about city's in the US that are famous for one street in there town. We came up with a few; LA - Sunset Strip, Vegas - Strip, Key West - Dewell Street, New Orleans - Bourbon Street and Santa Barabara - State St. Do you guys know if any other cities that are famous for a street? If so, let me know...We are on a mission to visit them all...LOL.

I'esha's Visit to Cali

I'esha and I planned an exciting weekend in Cali in honor of her birthday. Her first night here, we went to Hollywood to check out the Jimmie Kimmel Live show. It was really cool...We got on TV and the comedian was SO FUNNY!! After the show we went to the Disney Soda Fountain shop. It is an old school soda shop where we got this great sundae.
The next day we headed south the Disneyland to celebrate her birthday the right way...at the Happiest Place on Earth. We spent the day running around the parks and acting like kids...It was fun. We had dinner with all of the Princess and even went to Mickey's house to visit with him.

On her last day, we took a drive up Pacific Coast Highway 1 and stopped at Neptune's Net...This cool fish/burger place that was in the Fast and the Furious. The fish was really fish and tasted great. A must stop if you want something fast and not to expensive. But beware...The restroom are outside port-a-potty. Then we headed into Beverly Hills to grab a cupcake at Sprinkles. This time around I had the carrot cake cupcake...It was so good.
